Pickleball has become the fastest growing racquet sport in the country, and many parks and clubs now share tennis courts with painted pickleball lines or have converted courts outright. Dedicated pickleball facilities, indoor and outdoor, rent courts by the hour and run open play sessions where players rotate in. Padel, played on an enclosed court with glass walls, is arriving in the Sun Belt and big cities; platform tennis (paddle) is a winter game on heated, elevated courts in the Northeast and Midwest; racquetball and squash live inside athletic clubs and YMCAs; badminton and table tennis have their own clubs in most metro areas. Equipment is cheap to rent or borrow for a first session at nearly all of them.

Brooklyn is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Brooklyn is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Was excited to try this place out but unfortunately the floors are all even, dead spots. This place has a lot of promise but would need a different flooring. Hopefully theyβll renovate the facility to be official floors that are even.

At first sight, this CityPickle location may look like a pickleball playerβs paradise, but itβs not all sunshine and roses. I was really disappointed in the quality of the courts. A lot of the courts here are on a completely uneven playing surface. Some of the courts are in such poor quality that theyβre peeling off and coming undone. Considering they charge $120 for a court rental, I was shocked and appalled that they didnβt do a better job when they built this place. Itβs also extremely far from midtown Manhattan and a bit of a hassle to get to. I will say the open plays here are fun, but given the cost, I expected the quality of the facility to be much better. They donβt even have bathrooms insideβ¦ you have to go to the food court across the street.
